For those of you DEMANDING the president lower the price of gas (in a clear demonstration of both your incomprehension of world oil markets AND a convenient suspension of your belief in the Sanctity of Capitalism)...
Why don't you make the same demand of the people who actually CAN lower the price...? The oil companies.
What act could be more patriotic than a voluntary reduction in the price of their product? The stimulus to commerce and job growth would be virtually instantaneous--certainly faster than waiting for the effects of "drill baby drill" to be known.
"But what about The Most Holy PROFIT??" you might wail...
Yes, profits may go down--dropping from Obscene all the way down, perhaps, to merely Astronomical. But the benefits both predictable and unforeseen might just outweigh the temporary hardships oil execs may endure.
So whatta ya say? Write your local mega oil company and ask them to do what's right for America and PLEASE LOWER THE PRICE OF GAS!
